Your pool’s capacity

Before beginning any treatment of your pool, you should know its capacity. That way, you will be able to calculate the exact dose of the chemical products that you should add to the water.

1 ppm = 1 mg/l = 1 gr/m³

Filtration system

The filtration system is one of the most important components of the pool. It is the main mechanism for water cleaning and is responsible for removing impurities and keeping the water apt for swimming. This makes it an indispensable element for the proper functioning of the pool.

There are various types of filters:

Sand filters – These are the most popular, because they require little maintenance and allow backwash (inverse filtering process for removing impurities from the filter)

Cartridge filters – The level of filtration is as high as with sand filters, but only for small pools. The cartridges must be replaced annually.

Diatomaceous filters, which are the most expensive option because of their filtration power, deal even with dirt particles invisible to the naked eye. Diatoms are fossilized microorganisms working as microsponges.

How does filtering work?

The objective of the filtration process is for all the pool water to pass through the filtering system:

1. The water absorbed by the suction force of the pump through the skimmer, drain and suction nozzle reaches the filter.

2. It passes through the filter and the impurities are removed.

3. The filtered water returns to the pool through the inlets, cascades, pipes, etc.

During the bathing season, it is recommended to filter the entire pool water at least once a day. Filtration times depend in part on the filtering capacity of the wastewater treatment or filtration equipment.

Infinity pools versus pools with skimmer

Piscina-desbordante

Infinity pools are those pools where the water level spills over the rim.

How the infinity system works?

The water continuously overflows the edge and is collected in the peripheral canal surrounding it. Once in the channel, the water proceeds to the purification system.

Infinity pools allow constant and complete renovation of the water in a short period of time.Filtration: faster filtering = greater hygiene

In this way, the water is kept very clean and clear.

Skimmer

The main function of the skimmer is to draw the water from the pool and send it to the filtration system. The pump is connected to the skimmer at the bottom and when put into operation creates a movement in the water which attracts dirt to the skimmer

The skimmer system is as effective as that of infinity pools. Between the two, the only comparative drawback is that while the skimmer may be installed in any pool, the overflow system of the infinity pool cannot.

In addition, the skimmer system is much cheaper, which means significant savings compared to infinity pools.
